Automation QA Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate and detail-oriented Automation QA Engineer to join our team in Sofia. This QA role owns the quality and test automation for their assigned features and projects, starting from describing the test scenarios based on the documentation, from planning the test efforts and reviewing the progress of the test’s execution, to the release readiness preparation, up to the successful release.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Take ownership of the test strategy for your assigned features, creating comprehensive test plans that cover all functional requirements, edge cases, and regression paths
• Design, write, and maintain clean, high-quality automated tests using our automation framework. You’ll be writing code that is both effective and scalable
• Go deeper than surface-level testing. You will be responsible for testing REST APIs, validating data integrity with DB, and ensuring seamless interactions within our microservice architecture
• Work closely with developers and product managers in an Agile environment to ensure quality is built into the product from the very beginning. You’ll be a voice for quality in planning and refinement sessions
• Triage and diagnose complex bugs, performing root cause analysis to not only fix the issue but also prevent it from happening again
• Actively contribute to our test automation framework and CI/CD processes, participating in peer code reviews and helping the entire team level up our quality standards

Our Requirements & Skillset:

• You have 2-5 years of hands-on experience in software QA, with a strong focus on building and maintaining test automation frameworks
• You are skilled in a programming language like JavaScript or TypeScript and have practical experience with modern automation frameworks (Playwright is a huge plus)
• You have a solid understanding of REST APIs and hands-on experience with API testing tools (e.g Postman, Insomnia). You are comfortable working in and testing microservice architecture
• You are proficient with essential QA tools, including Git for version control and SQL for database validation and test data setup
• You have strong analytical skills and a meticulous eye for detail. You enjoy digging into complex issues to find the root cause
• You thrive in a team environment, communicate clearly, and enjoy sharing knowledge and providing constructive feedback in code review
• You don’t wait to be told what to do. You are driven by a desire to learn and are constantly looking for ways to improve yourself, our product, and our processes
