We are expanding and are looking for a driven, experienced professional to join us as a Card Scheme Manager. In this role, you will look beyond daily operations to shape and optimize our core card payment infrastructure. You will manage crucial relationships with Visa, Mastercard, and processing partners, serve as the ultimate SME for new business leads, and own the end-to-end delivery of complex card scheme projects and certifications.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Act as the core Subject Matter Expert (SME) to guide and accelerate the integration of new Acquiring and Issuing partners with Paynetics.
• Serve as the high-level, second-level escalation point to swiftly resolve critical issues with Card Schemes and critical Service Providers.
• End-to-end management of complex technical implementation projects, mandate deployments, and compliance certifications directly with Visa and Mastercard.
• Proactively monitor, interpret, and implement card scheme rules to ensure Paynetics’ platform remains fully compliant and ahead of regulatory changes.
• Shift from manual tasks to scalable operations by identifying automation opportunities, streamlining workflows, and reducing operational friction.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and external stakeholders to continuously refine and elevate existing payment infrastructure.
• Architect, update, and optimize internal procedures and documentation to future-proof our operational frameworks as we scale.
• Performing daily operational tasks.
• Deep diving into technical specifications about transaction messages and encryption of the end-to-end authorization cycle with the Schemes.
• Deep diving into Payment Processor’s financial transaction message protocols.

Our Requirements & Skillset:

• University Bachelor’s Degree
• 5+ years experience in the Payment industry and Card Scheme ecosystem.
• Proven track record of managing operational relationships directly with Visa, Mastercard, or major card processors.
• Deep understanding of Visa and Mastercard rules, regional regulations (PSD3/PSR, interchange fee regulations), and the biannual mandate release cycles.
• Solid grasp of payment processing flows, transaction messaging (ISO 8583 / ISO 20022), clearing, settlement, and chargeback mechanisms.
• Proven capability to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), translating complex scheme rules into clear requirements for commercial teams and potential business leads.
• Experience managing cross-functional projects (Product, Engineering, Legal) from requirements gathering to successful go-live.
• Analytical mindset with the capacity to navigate the fast-paced, ambiguous environment of a growing European FinTech.
• Fluent in English
